I present to you, our Week 1 Power Rankings! Feel free to bash/agree/argue with any of these rankings!
Week 1 NFL Power Rankings
1. Green Bay Packers (0-0)
Call me biased but I like my team’s chances for a Super Bowl. The loss of Jordy is huge, but Rodgers has dealt with injuries to both Jordy and Cobb before.
2. Seattle Seahawks (0-0)
I had them first in my preseason rankings, but I like the Packers schedule more than Seattle. Also, their offensive line was terrible in the preseason.
3. Indianapolis Colts (0-0)
Easiest scheduled I think I have ever seen. If they don’t win at least 12 games I will be very shocked.
4. New England Patriots (0-0)
Brady is going to have a MONSTER year, but this defense has many questions to answer.
5. Denver Broncos (0-0)
Manning is healthy again and CJ Anderson is a beast. Another AFC West championship, but they might miss out on the BYE now that Brady plays all 16.
6. Baltimore Ravens (0-0)
Difficult division, but the Ravens are always a threat come playoffs. Big key is Forsett duplicating his 2014 production.
7. Philadelphia Eagles (0-0)
I am buying Chip Kelly. I know it was just preseason, but Bradford looked great and that offense is just crazy to watch.
8. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-0)
Suspension will put this team in a little bit of a hole. They got screwed on the Brady suspension and the first half of their schedule is pretty rough.
9. Dallas Cowboys (0-0)
They have a great o-line and arguably the best WR in the league. I see them returning to the playoffs.
10. Arizona Cardinals (0-0)
Not many talk about the Cardinals, but if Carson can stay healthy this offense could be very good. I think they challenge Seattle for the division.
11. Kansas City Chiefs (0-0)
Maclin is quite an upgrade at WR and their defense keeps them in games. Only thing I don’t like is the beginning of their schedule. From weeks 2-4 they play DEN, @GB, @CIN. A 1-3 start is very possible.
12. San Diego Chargers (0-0)
Not sold on Melvin Gordon, but Rivers has won with less at RB. He will miss Gates, but their schedule opens pretty easy.
13. Detroit Lions (0-0)
Could be very wrong on this one. @SD, @MIN, DEN, @SEA, ARI…. They could easily start 0-5 and then the wheels could fall off.
14. Miami Dolphins (0-0)
I have never been the one to buy Tannehill. I don’t think he is a franchise QB, and with Brady playing all 16 games, I don’t give the Dolphins a chance to win this division.
15. Cincinnati Bengals (0-0)
Speaking of non-franchise QBs, the Bengals will never be legitimate threats with Andy Dalton leading the ship.
16. Buffalo Bills (0-0)
Great defense, but I really don’t like the offense. As you know from last year, I don’t like McCoy, and I really don’t think Taylor can get Watkins the ball.
17. New Orleans Saints (0-0)
Yes, they are 17th, but I do have them as the favorite in the division. I think they are much more balanced offense, I just don’t know if their defense is any better.
18. New York Giants (0-0)
I think Eli has a huge fantasy year, but the Giants are the third best team in their own division. Defense will struggle and I just don’t see how I can put them above Philly or Dallas.
19. Atlanta Falcons (0-0)
A team I really enjoy watching, but they are far from a solid team. Their offense should put up plenty of points, which will keep them around in the division race.
20. San Francisco 49ers (0-0)
A lot of people think this team is going to be awful, but I think they surprise some teams throughout the year. Will they make the playoffs, no, but I can see them as a 7-9 or 8-8 team.
21. Minnesota Vikings (0-0)
A lot of the water cooler talk is this team as a potential playoff team; I am NOT one of those people. I think Peterson has a big year, but I don’t trust Teddy yet.
22. Carolina Panthers (0-0)
Cam is going to have a loooooong year. I will be very shocked if he makes it through all 16 games without having to sit out.
23. New York Jets (0-0)
This team is going to struggle and I see them as a distant 4th place in the AFC North. That QB situation is hideous.
24. St. Louis Rams (0-0)
I think Nick Foles was a product of the system he was in in Philly. A 6 win team at best.
25. Houston Texans (0-0)
A very good defensive line can only take you so far. I have seen Brain Hoyer enough already to know he won’t lead this team very far.
26. Tennessee Titans (0-0)
This team doesn’t have a ton of talent, but Mariota will win them some games. They won’t sniff the playoffs, but fans will be happy with the direction their squad is going.
27. Chicago Bears (0-0)
An aging Matt Forte, White out for the season (probably), Jeffery continuing to be unable to stay healthy, and an awful defense. Oh wait, I almost forgot.. Jay Cutler is still there.
28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-0)
Much like Mariota, I think Winston has a pretty decent year. He has much better weapons, but I also think he has many more growing pains than Mariota.
29. Oakland Raiders (0-0)
This team got a lot better in the offseason, but they were awful last year. They are in a pretty tough division, and probably have the worst QB in their division too.
30. Washington Redskins (0-0)
This team is going to really struggle. I am not sure if they will win more than 2 or 3 games. Very distant fourth in the NFC South, and I have no idea what that locker room will be like with RGIII and company.
31. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0)
I hate that this team is so irrelevant year in and year out. It’s just cruel that they lost their #1 pick, Devante Fowler, basically as soon as they drafted him. Another long year for those few Jags fans, but at least they get to swim as they watch their squad.
32. Cleveland Browns (0-0)
Call me crazy, but I am going to be posting my W/L predictions for every team this year later this week: the Browns are going to challenge the 2008 Lions, and that is not a good thing.
