Our second to last stop on our division by division Sleepers and Busts is the NFC East!
Sleeper: Eli Manning NYG, ADP: 98th, 12th QB
I have never been high on Eli as a fantasy QB his entire career, but I think he could be a solid starter in 2015. Eli has one of the best 1-2 punches at his WR position in my opinion with Odell Beckham and Victor Cruz. Combined that with an above average TE, Donnell, and above average receiving threats at RB with Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen, Eli has plenty to work with this season.
Eli quietly produced some pretty good fantasy numbers in 2014. He had 9 games of 17 points or more, including 6 games with more than 20 fantasy points. These numbers came with Beckham and Cruz only playing two games together on the field. The NFC East has some terrible defenses in it, and their isn’t a good secondary to be found in it either. Manning is notorious for starting seasons slow, but in 2015 I think he puts up top 10 stats with this supporting cast. If your wanting to wait on a QB for later in the draft, or need someone to fill in for Brady, I think Eli is your guy.
Other NFC East players I like at their current ADP: Alfred Morris ADP: 29th, 12th RB, Rashad Jennings 66th, 26th RB, Pierre Garcon 152nd, 48th WR
Bust: Tony Romo DAL, ADP: 68th, 8th QB
Much like Eli before this year, I have never liked Tony Romo as a fantasy QB. Romo arguably had his best season in the NFL last year when he complete almost 70% of his passes for 3,705 yards, 34 TDs and just 9 interceptions. That being said, he had a rather bad fantasy season. Romo finished 11th in total fantasy points for a QB, but his average points per game where outside the top 12 for QBs. Romo had only 5 games with more than 20 fantasy points, while he had five games of 15 points or less.
Romo has had some troubles staying healthy in previous seasons which is exactly why I think the Cowboys try and limit his passing attempt to a reasonable number. Romo had just 5 games where he threw the ball 30 or more times. The Cowboys offensive line is so good at run blocking too, that the Cowboys can lean on the running game much more than some of the other fantasy QBs.
Romo has one of the best WRs in the game in Dez Bryant, but besides that, he has rather average options with an old Jason Witten and an inconsistent Terrance Williams. I think Romo will be a solid NFL QB this season, but to drafted him as a top 8 fantasy QB in the 7th round is just way too high for me. I would rather have Cam Newton and Tom Brady than Romo, or even wait and draft Eli or Stafford later in the draft.
Other NFC East Players I don’t like at their current ADP: DeMarco Murray 9th, 7th RB, DeSean Jackson 53rd, 22nd WR, Jason Witten 59th, 5th TE
